HDK - design and craft for the future

Based on its long traditions in design and applied arts HDK currently has a holistic attitude and advanced problem-solving competence towards design and the development and renewal of applied art and crafts. Humanism, artistic freedom, accountability, professional competence and commercial benefit are intertwined with theoretical studies and research. Coming Visual Arts teachers have HDK as their base when studying their discipline and specialisation within the teacher's training programme.

HDK School of Design and Crafts at Göteborg university is situated in the heart of Göteborg and together with the Academy of Music and Drama, the School of Photography, the School of Filmdirecting, Literary Composition, Poetry and Prose and the Valand School of Fine Art constitute the faculty of fine and applied arts at Göteborg University
